Her desire to punish the one who punished her represents the credo of many victims of war in the real world, and the cost is often the perpetuation of violence. The aftermath of her death affects Tadeo deeply and he decides to give up on love and redemption altogether, so in a way she managed to avenge her father in the sense that, despite Tadeo remaining alive, he will forever live life in misery. The literal reconstruction of her home from the rubble to which it had been reduced represents the steps some victims take toward healing their emotional and psychological wounds.
Tadeo himself has been haunted by his acts in the past and wishes to make some sort of amends with Dulce.

I find it hard that feelings that Dulce harbored for over 30 years can be undone so quickly, isabeo so short of time.
